Camp
St. Vincent
Child and Youth services in Baltimore
Camp St. Vincent is a summer day camp serving homeless and low-income children from Baltimore City and County, Maryland. Children ages 6 to 11, are nominated from Baltimore area schools, churches, and social service agencies. Over 60% of the children who attend are homeless, and the Camp's services are specifically geared to meet the needs of this vulnerable population.
Camp St. Vincent offers a structured outdoor recreation program that includes swimming, arts and crafts, singing, games, sports, and other enrichment activities and field trips. Academic instruction in reading and math is offered to help stem summer learning loss. The children also participate in daily Character Development Lessons, which strive to boost self-esteem, teach the children to resist negative peer pressure, and encourage positive choices. A variety of activities provide the children with many new experiences in an atmosphere where sharing, cooperation, fairness, and respect are emphasized.
Instructor positions are available for the 2010 camp season. Click here for the Camp St. Vincent employment application. For more information, please call Melissa Finn at 410-662-0500, ext. 201.
