FoodShare

FoodShare is a program that supports local food pantries and soup kitchens through the distribution of federal surplus commodities. A part of the Maryland Emergency Food Assistance Program, FoodShare distributes approximately 2 million pounds of food per year to over 140 food pantries and 40 soup kitchens located in Baltimore City.

Soup kitchens receive deliveries of frozen meat, as well as nonperishable foods that are used to prepare warm meals for those in need. Food pantries receive deliveries of nonperishable foods such as juices, canned meat and fish, vegetables, pasta, cereal, and desserts that are distributed to families in the area to prepare healthy meals at home. The FoodShare program operates from a 10,000 square foot warehouse located in Southwest Baltimore.

Please contact Chris Benzing at 410-368-1545 or cbenzing@vincentbaltimore.org to find food pantries or soup kitchens supplied by FoodShare in Baltimore City.
