Parish Conferences
Faith-based services for the poor in Baltimore

St. Vincent de Paul's parish-based volunteer groups, called Parish Conferences, provide a network of care to people suffering from the effects of poverty regardless of religion, race, national origin, or other distinction.

Located in 50 Catholic parishes throughout Central and Western Maryland, more than 1,000 parish conference volunteers work directly with people in their local communities providing help in a compassionate and respectful manner. Volunteer members grow spiritually by combining service with prayerful meetings and reflection.

Volunteer members assist individuals and families experiencing longer term struggles as well as short-term crises caused by temporary loss of income. Conferences provide food, utility assistance, rent, or other items of necessity to help people through difficult times. Members also advocate for their clients and provide them with referrals to appropriate human service agencies.
