Outreach
Ministry to prisoners in Baltimore
The St. Vincent de Paul Prison Outreach program involves more than 300 volunteers and 50 Parishes of the Archdiocese of Baltimore in visitation to prisoners in Central, Maryland. Trying to live out the Gospel message, "I was in prison, and you visited me" (Matthew 25:35-37), volunteers seek to walk alongside youth, adults, and the aged who are in prison.
Prison Outreach activities occur in over 30 prisons, detention centers, and juvenile correctional facilities, providing spiritual support to strengthen inmates, helping them in their efforts to find peace and inner strength. Prison outreach volunteers participate in activities including: bible study, communion services, literacy, and music ministry.
