Parish Conferences
Faith-based services for the poor in Baltimore

The Baltimore Council consists of 44 Conferences in Central and Western Maryland serving people in their local communities.  Conferences are the grass-roots groups through which Vincentians perform person-to-person service for neighbors in need.

St. Vincent de Paul Parish Conferences

What do Conferences do?
Volunteer members assist individuals and families experiencing longer term struggles as well as short-term crises caused by temporary loss of income.  Conferences provide food, utility assistance, rent, or other items of necessity to help people through difficult times.  Members also advocate for their clients and provide them with referrals to appropriate human service agencies.

Our Commitment to Service
SVDP Conferences are committed to ensuring that all individuals have equal access to our assistance.  We do not discriminate against any person with regard to race, religion, color, creed, gender, marital status, sexual orientation, age, national origin, political affiliation, immigration status, mental or physical disability, or medical condition.

Baltimore Council Leadership
The Baltimore Council Board is composed of Vincentian representatives from conferences throughout Central and Western Maryland.  Council members support local conferences, plan events, and help the Society of St. Vincent de Paul to grow in our region.

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is an international faith-based organization that provides services and assistance to those in need in 132 countries throughout the world.  For more information on the history of the Society and its work around the world, visit the U.S. Council website at www.svdpusa.org.

Mission Statement of the Society
Inspired by Gospel values, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, a Catholic lay organization, leads women and men to join together to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person service to those who are needy and suffering in the tradition of its founder, Blessed Frédéric Ozanam, and patron, St. Vincent de Paul.

As a reflection of the whole family of God, Members, who are known as Vincentians, are drawn from every ethnic and cultural background, age group, and economic level. Vincentians are united in an international society of charity by their spirit of poverty, humility and sharing, which is nourished by prayer and reflection, mutually supportive gatherings and adherence to a basic Rule.

Organized locally, Vincentians witness God's love by embracing all works of charity and justice. The Society collaborates with other people of good will in relieving need and addressing its causes, making no distinction in those served because, in them, Vincentians see the face of Christ.
