YouthPlace offers after-school academic and enrichment services to, low-income youth and teens in the Park Heights area of Baltimore, Maryland.
YouthPlace increases academic performance and strengthens participants' commitment to education through afterschool instruction in math and reading, homework assistance, computer instruction, educational field trips,ook clubs, and SAT prep classes. Music, dance, and other arts activities are provided to enhance the curriculum. Enrichment activities such as focus groups, guest speakers, and social events are used to strengthen participants’ bonds to adults, peers, and the community and help them develop problem solving, decision making, communication, and conflict resolution skills. During the summer months, activities are expanded to a full day for children ages 5-12 and are offered on the campus of Loyola University. Paid summer internships are offered to teen program participants.
Youth Place is based at the St. Ambrose Center, which has served the Park Heights community since 1972.
