Application for Volunteer Service
Thank you for your interest in volunteering at a program of St. Vincent de Paul of Baltimore (SVDP). Below you will find information on submitting your volunteer application materials.
Submission of Volunteer Application
All volunteers are required to submit the SVDP volunteer application. The application can be submitted via our website or obtained from a Volunteer Coordinator. Volunteers must submit a new application every 3 years. To complete a volunteer application, click here.
Any volunteer under the age of 18 must submit a signed permission form that identifies the program site and dates of service. To get a copy of the permission form that can be printed and signed, click here.
All volunteers over the age of 18 who are applying to volunteer at Head Start, Sarah’s Hope, YouthPlace or Cottage Avenue Community must also complete the request for criminal background screening.
Permission for Background Screening
All recurring or regularly scheduled volunteers over the age of 18 who are serving at a St. Vincent de Paul program site where children are present will be required to undergo a criminal background screening prior to volunteering. This policy is in recognition that preserving the safety and security of children under our care is of paramount concern, and is consistent with nationwide best practices for child and youth protection.
St. Vincent de Paul uses a national background screening service to perform volunteer background checks. Volunteers must give written consent in order for SVDP to perform a criminal background check. Volunteers may submit a consent form electronically using the background screening webpage or submit the signed Volunteer Criminal History Consent Form provided by a Volunteer Coordinator. All volunteers must provide their social security number in order to perform the background screening. Volunteers who are using a St. Vincent de Paul-owned vehicle will also submit to a review of their driving record.

Volunteers may not begin volunteer service until all application and screening materials have been submitted. A Volunteer Coordinator or your group leader will contact you when your application materials have been processed and you are ready to begin volunteer service.
