Volunteer by Program: Sarah's Hope, Mount Street

Current volunteer opportunities at Sarah's Hope, Mount Street include:

Summer Service Opportunities -

Meal Preparation:
Sarah’s Hope depends on volunteers to bring in home-cooked dinners and fresh lunches for its residents.  Groups can use our casserole recipes or their own ideas to prepare dishes that can be heated and served for dinner, make sandwiches for bag lunches, or put together after-school snacks.  For recipes and instructions, contact Conor Wall at 410-396-2204/2205 or conor.wall@vincentbaltimore.org.

Receptionist:
Sarah’s Hope needs volunteers to answer the phones, take messages for staff and residents, and ensure that residents and visitors sign in and out of the building.  Volunteers can schedule 2-hour or 4-hour shifts between 9am and 5pm on weekdays.  A weekly, bimonthly, or monthly commitment is required.
Volunteer shifts and food drop-offs can be scheduled by contacting Conor Wall at 410-396-2204/2205 or conor.wall@vincentbaltimore.org.

Meal Servers:
Sarah’s Hope serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner for its residents seven days a week.  Volunteers are needed to help serve the meals family style and provide a friendly, welcoming environment for the residents.  Individuals or groups of up to five are needed for dinner (6-7pm), and individuals or groups of up to three are needed for lunch (noon-1pm) and breakfast (7-8am).  Volunteers can serve meals on a one-time, weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly basis.

Life Skills Classes:
Sarah’s Hope needs volunteers to lead workshops to help residents develop the life, parenting, and job readiness skills they need to make themselves successful and self-sufficient.  The classes run for 4 weeks, with each weekly session taking 90 minutes to 2 hours.  Times are flexible, but volunteers must commit to teaching at least half (4 hours) of each class.

Children’s Activities:
Sarah’s Hope needs volunteers to help the youth coordinators run activities for the children both after school (4-6pm) and after dinner (7-8:30pm).  Volunteers will help with homework, play games and do arts and crafts with the children, and help provide supervision while their mothers meet with the case manager, attend life skills classes, and access other services.
