at St. Ambrose
YouthPlace at St. Ambrose offers after-school academic and social development services to at-risk, low-income youth and teens in the Park Heights area of Baltimore, Maryland.
The academic services seek to increase academic performance and strengthen participants' commitment to education through tutoring, computer instruction, educational field trips, guest speakers, focus groups, book club, and SAT prep. Social development services strengthen participants bonds to adults, peers, and the community by helping them develop necessary social skills such as problem solving, decision making, communication, peer resistance and conflict resolution. In the summer, a camp is offered for the after-school youth, and the teens participate in internships.
Lean to Earn is based at the St. Ambrose Center which works with the Park Heights community and each year, reaches more than 40,000 low-income persons with its broad scope of services.
