FAQs

Do you accept new or used clothing?
We gladly accept all clothing – new and used. We only distribute NEW clothing to our clients. Needed clothing items can be found on our Amazon Wishlist. Most common items needed are adult and children’s underwear and socks, children’s pajamas, adult sweat shirts, sweatpants, and t-shirts, infant and toddler onesies and children’s bathing suits (spring and summer) and adult and children’s coats, hats and gloves (fall and winter). USED clothing can be dropped off at one of our clothing bin locations throughout Central Maryland.

Where and When can I drop off?
Items can be dropped off at any one of our program locations. We ask that you call ahead to make sure we can accept the items and someone will be available on-site. Click here for our program locations and contacts.

Do you pick up?
Unfortunately, due to limited resources, we are unable to pick up donations.

Do you accept furniture?
We are unable to accept used household furniture.

Can I donate toiletries?
Yes!  We gladly accept NEW toiletry items. Travel-size shampoos, soaps, toothpaste, etc. are accepted at Beans & Bread. We accept full-size toiletry items at both Sarah’s Hope family shelters.

Do you take baby items?
We accept NEW baby clothing and items only. For health and safety reasons, we cannot accept used car seats, bottles, or toys or stuffed animals. We gladly accept new packages of diapers, wipes, bottles, strollers and pack n’ plays. Used baby clothing can be dropped off at one of our clothing bin locations. For a list of needed baby items, please visit our Amazon Wishlist or support our Head Start Adopt-A-Classroom or baby shower projects.

Do you accept used books or magazines?
We prefer new or gently used books. Bilingual children’s books are accepted at our Head Start sites. We do not accept magazines.

Do you accept real estate?
Yes. If you have a donation of property or real estate, contact Jennifer Summers at 410-662-0500, ext. 212.

Do you accept cars or boats?
We gladly accept donations of cars, boats and RVs. For more information on our Vehicle Donation program, click here.

Can I get a Tax Receipt?
Yes!  We will gladly provide you with a receipt for your in-kind donation you may use for tax purposes. Due to IRS regulations, we cannot assign a value to your donation. A tax receipt will be provided when you drop your donation off. If you are not offered a receipt or if you would like a receipt for clothes left in our Clothing Bins, please click here.

If you order items from our Amazon Wishlist, please be sure to include your name and address on the order receipt that is sent with your items.

How does the Amazon Wishlist work?
Each program has a wishlist at Amazon.com. Wishlists are frequently updated to include our most pressing and urgent needs. Items can be automatically shipped directly to our programs. Please be sure to include your name and address on the order shipping receipt so we may thank you for your gift!
