(Baltimore, August 9, 2022) –   St. Vincent de Paul of Baltimore will welcome the annual National Assembly of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul from August 30 to September 3, 2022 at the Marriott Baltimore Waterfront hotel in Baltimore, Maryland.  More than 700 leaders and members from across the country are expected to gather to celebrate their common values and shared mission of service. This will be the first time since the founding of the organization that the Society’s National Assembly will be held in Baltimore.

The annual gathering will include speakers, meetings, and workshops, and feature tours of some of St. Vincent de Paul of Baltimore’s local programs including Sarah’s Hope Family Shelter, Head Start, Good Harvest Community Kitchen, and Beans & Bread.  The gathering will also include liturgies celebrated by Baltimore Archbishop William J. Lori and Auxiliary Bishop of Baltimore Adam J. Parker. In addition, there will be guided tours of local religious sites for attendees, including the Basilica, St. Mary’s Seminary, St. Jude Shrine, and the National Shrine of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton.

A Host City event will take place at the National Aquarium for conference attendees. “We are excited to welcome St. Vincent de Paul leaders and members from across the country as we gather to strengthen our shared mission of service to those suffering from poverty,” said John Schiavone, President and CEO of St. Vincent de Paul of Baltimore. “This is a great opportunity to showcase the City of Baltimore as well as the work that St. Vincent de Paul of Baltimore does locally.”

“The theme of this year’s National Assembly is ‘Come to the Water’,” said National CEO Dave Barringer. “We invite our members from across the country to join us in Baltimore, home to the oldest Catholic diocese in the country, to celebrate our faith and friendship with one another.”  With nearly 90,000 members serving in more than 4,400 parishes across the country, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul is the world’s largest lay Catholic organization.
