Baltimore (August 2022) – St. Vincent de Paul of Baltimore (SVDP) is pleased to announce that WJZ -TV will be the media partner for their annual Equinox celebration on Saturday, September 24, 2022, from 6pm – 10pm at the Baltimore Museum of Industry.

Veteran Baltimore news anchor Denise Koch will emcee the fundraising event which will support SVDP shelter and housing programs across the Baltimore area. Voted “Baltimore’s Best TV Broadcaster” by Baltimore Magazine, Denise will host a memorable celebration that features live music from Reverend Smackmaster and the Congregation of Funk, delicious Chesapeake-inspired cuisine, open bars with hand-crafted cocktails, a silent auction, and creative lighting displays. The Equinox theme, “Be the light you want to see” is a reminder that each of us can brighten the lives of those around us—even at their darkest moments.

“We are grateful to have the support of WJZ TV and appreciate their commitment to ending homelessness in the Baltimore region,” said John Schiavone, President & CEO of St. Vincent de Paul.

SVDP employs holistic, solutions to minimize the incidence and duration of homelessness, with the ultimate goal of ending homelessness in our community.  Proceeds from Equinox will support SVDP’s homelessness prevention and shelter diversion services, rapid rehousing programs, permanent supportive housing programs, and four shelters.

“People experience homelessness for a variety of reasons,” explains Penny Gibson, SVDP Division Director of Homeless Services. “Periodic homelessness is often caused by loss of employment, sudden illness, domestic violence, or other crises. Longer-term homelessness can result from untreated mental health conditions, disabilities, or addiction. Each day, St. Vincent de Paul of Baltimore serves hundreds of men, women, and children impacted by homelessness for very different reasons and in very different ways. Equinox is a great way for everyone to come together as a community to support our mission to end homelessness in the Baltimore region.”

Ticket prices for Equinox range from $150 each to $2,500 for an Illuminator Patron package that seats ten. Please visit equinoxbaltimore.com for more information or to purchase tickets online.
